![]() ![]() As this paper argues, although many campaigns depict feminism as an “anti-men affairs” move, I view it as a well-calculated mutual plan that seeks to embrace the patriarchal system in a manner that further gives women the power to rise to positions initially preserved for their counterparts. In particular, the Egyptian Revolution can be traced back to 2011 when women decided to engage in movements that sought to break this counterproductive practice. However, Egypt began witnessing women campaigns less than ten years ago. ![]() ![]() ![]() The concept of feminism has its roots in the 18th century, specifically during the Seneca Falls Convention, when women turned out in large numbers demanding a review of various societal, universal, and faith-based conditions that contravened their privileges as equal citizens. Various stakeholders, including renowned filmmakers and playwrights such as Maggie Nelson, Gloria Jean Watkins (bell hooks), and Audre Lorde among others, have presented feminism differently. ![]()

You can find Stephen Graham Jones’s The Only Good Indians on Amazon: By its conclusion, The Only Good Indians becomes less a tale of horror, grief, and trauma, and more one focused on acceptance and reconciliation of one’s sense of identity. Presenting readers with a horror novel turned into hopeful allegory, Jones creates characters that battle with or ignore their indigenous traditions and identities only to have them caught, destroyed, and changed by those same traditions. ![]() While these elements are certainly strong in The Only Good Indians, I found that the change in the novel’s structure after the first section to be the real strength of the novel. Many reviewers celebrate Jones’ style, citing his creation of likeable and realistically flawed characters as the novel’s main strength, with its horror coming in a close second. For horror fans, there is a lot to like in its pages: haunted houses, breaching of cultural taboos, spectacular but rarely overdone gore, hybrid monsters, and an ever-present deniability of the supernatural. The Only Good Indians (2020), Stephen Graham Jones’s latest novel, often feels weighed down by a distant, but strong, tradition. ![]() ![]() Of the many incidents, close calls, lies and ruses, which stand out to you most-in terms of Odette's bravery and cleverness, in terms of danger or recklessness… or anything else in particular?ġ0. ![]() Why didn't the Nazis kill Odette and Peter?ĩ. ![]() In what way did her childhood illnesses-polio and blindness-help prepare Odette for the horrific ordeal as a Nazi prisoner?Ĩ.
